Cardiac Imaging Suite - Princess of Wales Hospital Bridgend
With funding from the Welsh Assembly and a Lottery grant a new Cardiac Imaging Unit was acquired and allocated to the Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend. The suite was scheduled to be operational within 16 weeks.
Working with Siemens Medical Solutions for Bro Morgannwg NHS Trust, with project management by Welsh Health Estates, Kitto undertook the design, conversion and pre-installation works for a Siemens Artis dFC single plane digital cardiac lab.
The £300,000 contract was negotiated, designed and commenced on site within 4 weeks of the initial enquiry and brief. The installation was completed within budget and the agreed contract period of 8 weeks enabling the installation team from Siemens Medical Solutions to complete the project within the overall 16 week period allocated.
The allocated space within the hospital for the suite was as an unventilated store. The conversion works included fire resistant partitions to form the examination, equipment, control rooms, staff kitchen and rest room, dirty utility, patient recovery and waiting area.
Full lead protection was provided to the examination and control rooms. Hygienic medical suspended ceilings were installed throughout the suite. All joinery was of the highest standard in ash. Mechanical and electrical installation included the installation of a new 400v 315-amp power supply routed at high level through the working pharmacy department. Full air conditioning and ventilation were installed to theatre standards.
